Michael J. Weiner, MHA
Michael J. Weiner, MHA, is a widely recognized expert on emergency medicine revenue cycle management, including billing operations, management of bad debt practices, collection agency management, bad debt sales and overall maximization of financial recovery of accounts receivable. Michael is presently the President and Managing Member of MW Consulting, LLC, specializing in assisting emergency medicine practices realize the maximum financial potential from their bad debt receivables.
Michael received a Masters of Health Care Administration degree from George Washington University and a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Bernard Baruch College. From 1973 to 1977 he was a hospital administrator for several of the earliest proprietary hospital corporations.
Michael has been engaged at the executive management level of medical billing and bad debt management for 33 years . From 1977 to 1981 Michael served as the regional manager for Professional Management Services ( PMS ), a national multi specialty medical billing company for hospital based practices. He then served as Senior Vice President for Team Health, a national emergency physician staffing and practice management company through 2007. While at Team Health, he created and managed the billing system operational infrastructure into a multi location national business unit that ultimately processed in excess of 7 Million new patient visits annually. Michael also created and directed the operations of an internal collection agency that achieved significant increases in the financial returns from the bad debt accounts while maintaining the required positive professional relationships with hospital administration and the patient community. During the creation of the internal collection agency Michael also created the first national program to sell medical bad debt to further increase the returns from these fully charged off accounts. Michael served for three years on the Board of Directors of the Emergency Department Practice Management Association ( EDPMA ) during its initial formative years.
Michael created MW Consulting, LLC in 2007 to serve the needs of emergency medicine physicians as well as the billing companies who support this medical specialty.
